Creating

I have been creating digitally since 1999 (12 years), and thought of a few things that I have experienced in the past few years.

Someone brought up the subject recently about how Poser and Daz are not artwork. It is not the first time I have seen this occur, and truly it does not sit right with me. Of course, it does remind me there are three types of people in the artistic word.

Elitist: The type of people who thinks their shit don’t stink, when sometimes..it does.

Poser Elitest: Kind of the wannabe. 90% of the time they have expensive software and think that makes them the God of 3D. I had a guy once tell me that my stuff is not worth crap unless I use Final Render with Maya. Yet when I examined most of his stuff, they were “eeehh….” They really didn’t appeal to me, and when I pointed out some logical mistakes in his stuff..I didn’t know what I was talking about apparently.

Artists: Although some can be opinionated, they know there is no defined rule for creation. While I will critique some people work, I will never go “Well, you used Poser so…” For example, I simply told someone I saw lines, but that could be Shockwave compression (although I have seen shockwave not so..compressed so who knows) and scene with no background beyond the walls was distracting. Simple logical critiques.

Overall, I don’t do this for money or fame, or the chance to be glorified in some hall of greats…I do it for fun first and foremost.Winking smile
